Galaxy Note XXLPY Android 4.0 Firmware Update

Update: Do not flash this XXLPY firmware, there have been reports of Galaxy Note getting bricked after this upgrade, wait for update. See this thread.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update is out in the market and is being made available on few carriers and their selected models. Many of the users are reporting that they have received a notification of the new Android 4.0 update on their international version of Galaxy Note (model N7000). Some of the users in Germany were able to download the update through the Samsung’s Kies software, whereas some other users were able to do the update over the Air.

If you haven’t received the update notification yet, then you may have to wait a bit longer as the updates are usually released region-wise. According to the sources, depending upon the region the Samsung Galaxy Note users will receive the latest update in the coming weeks. The software is tagged with build designation XXLPY and will update the firmware of the Galaxy Note to Android 4.0.3. Most of the international Note users have received the update and the customers who haven’t received it yet, may have to wait a bit longer.

Also, the users who are using carrier branded Galaxy Note may have to hang on for a bit longer as the carriers will test the software first and then provide their own customized build version of Android. The list of carriers and respective models that received this Android 4.0 update does not have many models in which the availability of update was expected. The fans of many Android users are disappointed for not finding any update on their phones essentially because they have been waiting for this update for a long time now.

Moreover, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update may not be available for some phones even in future. Many previous models like that of Samsung, HTC etc which were running the previous Gingerbread version, may not receive the update.
